Ruby RestaurantRuby is a large, old school (really, you will find a lot of seniors dining here) restaurant that has a large variety a la carte dim sum, but with some of the dishes a bit on the greasier side. If your gut gets tired of sitting and waiting for the next bite to roll around there is also an area up front where you can choose your own orders of noodle soups, congee and assorted other fried treats. Ruby has a set price after 1:30pm and is one of the cheaper dim sum options in Toronto with linen tablecloths.

Wasn't this place shut down for rodent infestation?

Oops. Should've known better than to paste that massive URL in. Sorry! Well maybe the admins can delete the comment and update the main article instead.

They re-opened as "Regal Chinese Restaurant" and it's pretty much a banquet hall. I went there in February with my family. There was a "20% off*" if you have a senior dining with you. The food was rather pricey but it did not disappoint.

The only problem was the service. The attendants were "nice" - refilled your pot of tea/water, took your orders, but very nonchalant. The nail in the coffin was at the end when we got the bill. The "head-lady" gave us the bill and WAITED at our table to produce payment. I gave her my credit card and off she went, and comes back with the credit card machine. I was expecting her to hand it to me, but instead she simply says "How much tip are you giving". I was taken aback - what kind of "high class" restaurant does this?? Granted, that was translated from Chinese, but the way she spoke it was not a question, just a deadpan order. I simply said I'd enter it in myself.

I'd never left a restaurant with such a sour note. I'll never be coming back to this place.

Are there really a "high class" Chinese restaurant? Their service is always nasty and rude. Perhaps there are no such thing is called good service in Chinese culture.

The best of them in Toronto would be Lai Wah Heen...It is pretty nice and the food is probably the best Chinese food in Toronto.

Grand Restaurant (by the airport) has friendly staff. I have been tehre many times and find the waitstaff to be quite cordial with good serving etiquette. They don't throw stuff down on the table like they do in some restaurants.
