Very good food and reasonably priced. We go there all the time and it's always the same quality. Closets to "home" if you're homesick

My first experience at Shomal was a great one. A poor first impression was made while we seemed to wait foreever to have a seat offered for our larger group despite the fact that a little creativity would have conferred a seating arrangement in a much shorter time. This was more than made up for by the cheerful decor, pleasant atomosphere provided by the polite waiting staff and the live music. The food was was my outing for Persian food and I have to say I was unimpressed by my first encounter. Not so, for Shomal. The food there was a delightful surprise for any meat lover to be sure.Kepp in mind when looking for the restaurant; It is set back in the strip mall and the sign only says "North" in English and "Shomal" in Farsi. I was looking for a restaurant called "Shomal" and with my English-only eyes could not find it anywhere! : )

If service matters to you, this is NOT the place for you. Service is non existent. Last few visits were very disappointing and we even emailed the restaurant with our frustrations and they did not care to follow up. On our last visit... Just to give you an idea of what they think service is.... We were seated. Took almost 40 minutes to take our order even though it was not busy. Food came fairly quick but server did not visit our table at all in one hour time we were seated. We sadly left without providing any tip other than one penny. Hope he got the message. We always went there although far from us, just because we loved the food. We have since discovered the Persian Palace in which has much better service and great food!

This restaurant used to be one of the best Persian restaurant in Toronto but recently everything is upside down. Last time I invited few friends to show them the good Persian food but it was very embarrassing, we ordered 4 different dished and except chicken kebab the rest were not good at all such as Kebab soltani and the other kababs. I do not recommend it.

My wife and I were invited for dinner today for a big gathering and I warned people previously about bad service I received there before ...

We were a large group and the place was empty they made excuses on how they could not arrange the tables so we sit together . they suggested we split into 2 groups and sit away from each other . we pushed for it and got it .

Then the bill came and it was around $400 so the waitress told my mother in law that the tip should be $100 ( no joke ) . so she paid it and then we complained so she asked for a manager . the waitress denied and she insisted the tip and the manager did not care about the complaint very much

Funny how this is exactly the same thing I had 2 years ago with this place . this time I have to really advise people not to go for poor service as this is a trend in this place .

Last time I called the restaurant and wrote to the manager and no one cared to even call back

There are so many places way better than this and the food much better
