Mong Kut Thai (the original) may initially seem like a mediocre, no-frills place but I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness, the efficient service and the fresh and very tasty food. The Tom Yum soup with shrimp was savoury with just the right amount of kick. There were 5 plump shrimp in the soup, shelled and de-veined. The three cold salad rolls were perfect. Nicely rolled and flavourful with the aromatic cilantro and basil leaves making an impact with each bite. The peanut dipping sauce was warm and thick. A nice accompaniment to the cold rolls. I would happily eat there again with no hesitation.

This place is okay, nothing too special. Typical thai food, nothing too phenomenal in the flavour department. I had the cashew chicken and they skimped on the cashews. That would never happen at Thai Wok. It was still good, good portion sizes, although a few too many vegetables to make up for the lack of cashews. I want my cashews, dammit.
