Lafayette Bistro
Lafayette Bistro is a small French restaurant near Queen and Ossington. They have various kinds of your typical French favourites, but the highlight has to be the French onion soup, which is flavourful but not as salty as most other places. The restaurant has consistently good service, and a nice cozy ambiance. There's also a back patio.

They made a fresh Pomme Tatin for dessert, apples with real, fresh caramel (only butter and brown sugar, no corn syrup here!) that smelled delicious as they cooked it (we could smell it all the way in the front of the restaurant) and tasted even better.
Lots of people walked by while we were in there and peered in, and I only wish they knew what a gem of a place they were passing by!
As a final note, the staff were decidedly french and kind, attentive, talkative, and funny. Some of the best service I've ever had.
