Emerald Chinese Restaurant

Emerald Chinese RestaurantEmerald Chinese Restaurant is located in the heart of Mississauga. This place offers excellent dumpling and spring roll combinations. Price isn't too hefty on the wallet, unless you're ordering from their extravagant set menus. Make sure to bring your extended families, with line-ups out the door for dim sum brunch on weekends. Don't expect philosophical conversations from the efficient staff as they like to keep it short and sweet while carrying around delicious dim sum push carts. I recommend trying the giant crab.

Oh no... why is Emerald on this list?
I have been living in Mississauga for over 15 years, this restaurant is what the people from out of town will go to.. but if you Live in Mississauga, you know their food is nothing special. There are way better chinese food in mississauga than Emerald. Just anywhere at Golden Square (Central Parkway & Burhamthorpe) you will find the real good chinese food.

I couldn't disagree more. Emerald is hands down the best Chinese food in the city, very few compare, and yes - I've lived here a long time as well.
You can just see how insanely packed they are. 24/7 - that doesn't lie. The crowd is 99% Asian, which in my ignorant white mind, tells me they got to be doing something right. BUT the real proof is in the meal. Try it and see, you'll catch my wife and I there when you do. Anything at Golden Square is ok, but not comparable to Emerald's prowess.

Fast pace, great food. Lunch time is the best to go at, dim sum is great. It has that china town feel to it.

I have been eating at Emerald Chinese Restaurant for over 13 years simply because the food seems to get better every time I visit. Service is always fast (they work well under pressure), and although the servers are not the most social, the food makes up for every single flaw. As an Asian woman who grew up eating "authentic" Chinese food all my life, I would have to say that the food is among the best that I have tasted.

I'm surprised Emerald is on the list at all... I agree with Sydney, the food is subpar, especially their dim sum. Instead of making them fresh to order, they wheel their dim sum around a cart until a patron asks for them. Although this is the traditional way of serving dim sum, the carts they use aren't at all traditional at all, without a functioning system to keep food warm. The dim sum dumplings such as Har Gow does not pass the standard chopstick test, meaning it is too thick and sticky. It's close to office buildings, so it's always full, but food wise, it really isn't great at all.

Worst. Place. Ever. So gross. Delivery man was very nice mind you but the packaging was open all over the bag. Smelled like rotten food $50 down the drain.

This place sucks. The carts are inefficient and makes the dim sum cold. It makes for a small selection as well
