Church Bistro

Church Bistro TorontoChurch Bistro is an eclectic restaurant in the village, just north of the Church and Wellesley intersection. It comes with the requisite rainbow decor, and there's a pub-esque option on the menu for just about everyone, from chicken salad to a number of seafood options, salads, sandwiches and burgers.

The worst place ever! the service was horrible and the owners of the place were extremely rude. I'd not recommend this place to anybody. It SUCKS!

We're residents in the neighborhood and dine there 7 days a week and the food is amazing and the prices are affordable. We look forward to trying different dishes every time - if the food was not good, then there wouldn't be any customers lining up on the weekends. We believe there is just one owner and we have never seen him in the front, the servers that we've had so far provided us with excellent service. We've gotten to know them all by their first names now and we can only say that these are all false remarks. Anyhow, we look forward to our breakfast tomorrow morning and every time after that... Anyone who is interested in a fusion of cuisines, we highly recommend the Church Bistro - you won't be disappointed!

My boyfriend and I had dinner here a couple of weeks ago. It was a Sunday night and we were the only customers in the restaurant. I ordered a tuna sandwich with salad and my bf had the mussels. My meal was easily something I could have whipped up at home (tuna piled between two pieces of plain bread, spring greens from a box), and his was a tiny serving of 8 mussels for $15. Two hours later, he was throwing up.

The two guys working there that evening were super nice, so I feel bad about giving such a bad review of the place. Had I done my research beforehand, I'd have known about the conditional pass and avoided the place altogether.

Wait for a table next door at Smith. It's worth it.

Today, my girlfriend and I visit this place, an awesome place. inspite of the chef burning his hand and screaming the service didnt stop. With the same speed and smile on their face, they didnt made it a scene.
Good handling orf customer and sorry for the chef, your Egg and steak, Quail Eggs with Smashed Potatoes and Arugula and Huevos Rancheros was delicious.
Thanks for the food

Classy patio on front

Had dinner last week and I can honestly say, regardless of all the reviews online, this new bistro look, new management from what used to be the diner, is a great new place to wind down after a busy day at work! They reinvented seafood paella which was full of spices and flavours(yummy!), with some drinks on the side and some chillout music makes a great combination to a relaxing dinner. This really is a great little place, not to mention their friendly staff and owner. Will be back very soon to try out their breakfast-brunch items!! Clean, relaxing and friendly environment -a must try! A+

If my memory serves me correctly, I never saw any mussels on their menu for $15, unless you had the mussels as appetizers only, then it should be at $9.00 and perhaps you had something else prior or too much to drink with your meal that made you threw it all up! Hopefully you'll recover and btw, your suggestion about Smith, it's not a bad place, but it ain't worth the wait and for the prices you pay, sorry to say but you can get much tastier food out there and not wait!

worst place every! i used to come here all the time with my friend for breakfast. but clearly they were under different management. the food is HORRIBLE. the service and waiting times are LONG AND NOT WORTH IT. the prices are TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE QUALITY OF FOOD. the servings and taste of the food IS HORRIBLE. and not to mention the OWNER IS RUDE! DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS I DID

My husband & I had a wonderful meal at Church Bistro. The food is beautifully prepared. My husband is an excellent cook & he was very interested in the creativity of the dishes. The service was flawless. We had a trilogy tasting adventure. The evening flowed with just a very short time between each dish. It was a lovely evening in a beautiful restaurant. Expensive but worth it.

This restaurant was recommended by the Friend. If you want a romantic dinner, this is the place. I counted only 14 tables in this historic building. The servers are two highly professional and friendly ladies who are very knowledgeable about food and wine. When you order your meal (seafood, beef etc.), you are served three different preparations. It is truly a gastronomic delight. We were never rushed and our servers were always available to answer questions and help us with our wine choice. well worth it—.

Nice place to enjoy and relax with reasonable price.
I and my friend went this restaurant 2 days ago in morning time. We are in trip so we couldn't pay a lot of money for meal. Bistro was great place to go easily.
We ordered Baked Egg and Cheese Omelette. Especially omelette was excellent! Even I couldn't finish cuz too much they gave. And server was very kind, she kept filling our coffee. Owner tried to talk us and he served free dessert.
We really enjoyed. I will go again before leave.

I was in the restaurant tonight(November 2013), and I was SHOCKED at the rudeness of the owner! I ordered the steak, thinking, i'll treat myself today. Well, when it came, it tasted like it was rotten! I complained, and the waiter told me that this is a serious accusation, and it's not true- he turned the lights on full and told me that the meat is pink and not green so it must be fresh! Then he told me to order something else. I ordered the ceasar salad, which tasted EXACTLY the same- which is when i realized that it's some spice they are putting in the food. He showed me what he put in the steak- it's grillhouse montreal steak spice- which is that vomitty crap that people can buy at food basics to shake on top of steak before a barbeque- you can buy it for 99 cents. I mean, if that's what i wanted, i would prepare the steak myself. I told him that he should use natural ingredients and he just said, thanks for the advice, but we haven't had a complaint yet! OMG! and as if that wasn't bad enough- then the bill came, and i found out that even though i hardly touched the steak, he charged me full price for it!! DON"T COME HERE! PLEEEEAASE LISTEN!

I agree, I was there recently as well. I can honestly say that in my travels around north america and all over Europe that I had the worst food experience of my life there. I had a discussion with the very rude owner and server over disgusting food but they failed to see the customers point of view or make any attempt to improve on terrible food and service. Someone beside me had a heated argument with them over the exorbitant prices on their 'special' buytopia menu. I don't know about the positive reviews I saw on line but now I'm thinking they are fakes. All I can say is go somewhere else.

I can't believe to be the first to write a review of this very welcoming place amidst the Gay Village of Wellesley/Church.

Today is the last day of our stay in Toronto so we did some last minute shopping and looked for a place to have lunch. We walked by Church Bistro which we had noticed before and decided to give it a try. Strange enough that we were the only patrons. We asked the utterly friendly young lady who welcomed us whether we could sit in their patio and she showed us to a table in the individually decorated backyard. The small menu left enough choices and we decided on a Veggie Burger that came with a freshly prepared Cream of Mushroom Soup, and a Turkey Burger which were, astonishing enough, homemade and tasted simply delicious. My partner's Turkey Burger came with French Fries which were the crispiest he had tasted during our entire stay in Canada. With our food my partner had a glass of fruity tasting white housewine and I had a Mango Lassi that was so good it instantly teleported me back to India where I had tasted quite a few. It was actually so good that I had to order a second glass of it. After this mouth-watering meal we were deliciously full. The service was very friendly and we also got to know the friendly owner Mahi

Sounds like you are the owner to me, and from what I've heard about this place you need all the good 'fake' reviews you can get !

Great meal. I ordered over-easy eggs, and the yolk was perfectly runny. I usually don't really like fruity salads, but the chef's salad was pretty good! Service was friendly and the decor is cute.
