Bright Pearl
Bright Pearl is a famous dim sum restaurant in the heart of Toronto's Chinatown. Located on the second floor of a big yellow building at the corner of St. Andrew and Spadina, Bright Pearl is best on weekends when the massive dining room is packed with festive dim sum goers.

Does anyone know if this place is good anymore? I've seen A LOT of conflicting reviews, but it seems to be # on the blogto Top Ten list?

Was there a while back. The worst peking duck I've ever had. It was overpriced and so painfully small in portions. The servings were rather bland too.

This place is so-so. Not great but can get you through a dim sum fix if you can't drive up North to get better food. Not in my top ten but in downtown, you have to resign yourself to lower quality.

Average. They still have carts, which is good. Food was tasty but not fantastic. Not cheap. I suggest you try somewhere else, they are probably resting on their lotus leaves a little too much.

I am dumbfounded as to how this made the Top 10. Perhaps it was Top 10 whe I was a child and we went there in the early 80s. My dim sum today was sub-average. The shrimp dumplings weren't cooked correctly (the rice wrapper should not fall apart), the deep-fried squid was particularly greasy and flavorless and was not accompanied by any sauces. The sticky rice was not particularly sticky and had baby corn !?! in it. They forgot to give us our bill and said goodbye as we approached the exit and we had to remind them that we hadn't paid. However, the worst part was they handed us a bill for $28!!! The whole reason we decided to go there was that they advertise $1.88 "happy hour" til 4pm on their website. Once we explained this, the bill was in fact changed to $15....but I certainly will not be back. Just goes to show - you get what you pay for.

The two times that I went here, it was completely empty except for our table - not a good impression. It's also relatively pricey, as right across the street, a resto serves Dim Sum all day for a much more reasonable price.
