Today in Toronto: Lana Del Rey, Ryerson University Film Fest, Big Ideas Fest, Germany Laughs, Mogwai

Posted by Aubrey Jax / May 13, 2014

Today in TorontoToday in Toronto you'll find me crying my eyes out over the remains of my imaginary Lana Del Rey tickets - her show at Sony Centre is as sold out as my heart is heavy. Goethe Films' final screening for Germany Laughs is Absurdistan at 6:30pm, and student-run Ryerson University Film Festival (RUFF) will see thesis films screened at Hot Docs May 13-14. For theatre fans, Big Ideas Festival of Staged Readings is free of charge from May 13-16. For more events, click on over to our events section.

WTF is with this morbid imagery in fashion and music lately? Does no one else think this is sinister?

I think it's important to see a movie before you place that sort of judgement on it. It's also important not to censor or warrant youth from making films that they want to make. Suite Spot screened last night at RUFF and did wonderfully. Please refrain from presumptuous commentary on something that is trying to celebrate young filmmakers' work.
