Today in Toronto: Bookie's, Red Light Sessions, Art Bar Team Reading, Serenity & Galloping, Star Trek Trivia

Posted by Jason Steidman / January 7, 2014

Erotic Life DrawingTonight you can check Bookie's Nu Music night at The Horseshoe featuring Skye Wallace, or pop over to the Black Swan on the Danforth for a special session of readings by a group known as "The Art Bar Team" - which could lead to some poetry slamming. To connect with your inner-sci-fi-nerd, head over to The Gladstone Hotel to show everyone who's boss at tonight's special Star Trek: The Next Generation edition of their new monthly TV Trivia Night. None of that lighting your fire? Creatures Creating hosts Red Light Sessions - "life drawing with a kinky twist" tonight. Make it so.

Have an event you'd like to plug? Submit your own listing to the blogTO Toronto events calendar or contact us directly.

I believe the Morning Brew is just on a hiatus. Hard to believe though one person goes on vacation or leaves and the whole morning brew stops????

They ran out of Rob Ford stories.

What happened to the morning brew?
No explanation to your readers?

pretty much the ONLY reason i got into the habit of visiting this site ...

The one downside of this though is that dark chocolate is quite
bitter without the sugar content, and so one variation to
this recipe if you do choose to go down this route is
that you should also add in two tablespoons of a sugar free substitute into the main ingredients
of the Sugar Free Chocolate Smoothie in order for it to taste good.

Green smoothies are a healthy raw food option in contrast to the processed food items that are filled with harmful chemicals, sodium and other dangerous preservatives.
They keep the immune system healthy and strong as they ward off infections and heal cuts and wounds.

Hey all. Believe it or not, I sometimes don't see the comments on posts until hours after they go live. If you want to be sure to get me, just send me an email at I've already addressed AV's question on another post, but to repeat: right now the MB is just on hiatus until mid January. During that period we're considering other ways that we might offer morning news stories, but we haven't made a decision yet. And while the comments section was getting annoying, that's not why the post isn't on the site right now. Look for it to return in mid January or for an announcement about its future at that time.

I hope that in future, when referencing any poetry reading or spoken word related events, the blogTO writer will take more time (like 60 seconds) to review what the event is actually about.
The Art Bar team is the group of people who organize the series which has been around for 20+ years. It is a poetry series for page and stage poets and it is NOT a slam. A poetry slam is a competition, it is that simple.

I'm sure the show tonight will be excellent. Valentino Assenza is one of the best poets around.

Hey, AG - -

I never stated that event was a "poetry slam", but that the open mic portion "could lead to some poetry slamming". Someone even commented to that effect on the FB event page.
Thanks for reading, js.

hey BlogTO. You're using a photo from a Keyhole Sessions drawing event to promote a completely different event that is not affiliated with us. Please don't do that.
