FILM | 21st annual Rendezvous With Madness Film Festival
The Rendezvous With Madness Film Festival begins today, bringing awareness of mental heath and addiction issues to TO film goers. This festival, founded in 1993, focuses on how mental illness and addiction are presented in international cinema (as well as other media), and unveils myths while also searching for truth. At the same time, the festival's mandate allows for showcasing works that might not otherwise get exposure. Tonight, following a gala reception at the TIFF Bell Lightbox lounge, a Canadian short film, Happy Days Are Here Again will be screened, followed by the US-made feature-length Short Term 12. The festival runs until the 16th of November, Various Venues (350 King Street West).

BOOKS & LIT | IFOA Weekly: In Conversation with Ann Patchett
Tonight, as part of the the International Festival Of Authors "weekly" series, author Ann Patchett reads from her latest book, This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage, a collection of essays. Named one of the "most influential people in the world " by Time Magazine, Patchett is an award-winning author who got her start working at Seventeen magazine, and has since written for The Washington Post, The New York Times Magazine, and other publications of note. Her fourth novel, Bel Canto won the Orange Prize for Fiction and PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. Author Emma Donoghue will interview Patchett at tonight's event. York Quay Centre - Brigantine Room (235 Queens Quay West) 7:30PM $10 (FREE members/students/youth).

FOOD | Canadian Artisan Tasting Fair
The Drake Hotel on Monday nights is the place to connect with your inner, yes, "foodie". You will have the opportunity to try out your skills judging a cut-throat cook-off, or you can chill with a drink and watch the action from the sidelines, as host Ivy Knight pulls you in some tasty culinary directions you won't soon forget. Tonight's guest is Michael Simpson of the Leslieville Cheese Market, a well respected establishment in Toronto's east end (with other locations, as well), who will guide you through a tasting of various Ontario cheese paired with craft ales. Sounds delish! The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West) 8PM.

MUSIC | Lunice & Rockie Fresh
Tattoo Rock Parlour hosts a heavy beat-driven lineup tonight. Montreal DJ and producer Lunice makes up part of this bill, and he has done mixes for BBC Radio 1, has collabed with Diplo and Azaelia Banks, and makes up half of the production team TNGHT. Rockie Fresh is also on this bill, and this Chi-town based rapper is featured on the compilation album Self Made Vol. 3 which Maybach Music Group just dropped in September. His early mixtapes caught the attention of Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, who gave his career a well deserved boost. Also on tonight's bill is Bass6, a TO production duo. Tattoo Rock Parlour (567 Queen Street West) 8PM $20
