Radar: Xavier Rudd, Vincent Lam, One Of A Kind, Dieselboy, Toronto Erotica Writers and Readers Meetup

MUSIC | Xavier Rudd @ Phoenix Concert Theatre
Australian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd stops in at the Phoenix tonight as part of a 15-city Canadian tour celebrating the release of his latest effort, Spirit Bird. Seeing Rudd perform is a unique musical experience, to be sure: there's more going on that an acoustic guitar and vocals, and it's not unusual for this artist to be surrounded by percussion instruments and several digeridoos, but he somehow manages to employ them all with tangible musicality.
Phoenix Concert Theatre (410 Sherbourne Street) 7PM $32.50

BOOKS & LIT | Eh List Author Series - Vincent Lam
As part of the Eh List Author Series, Vincent Lam reads from his latest novel, The Headmaster's Wager. This is the author's first novel, and centers around the character of Percival Chen and the goings-on in an English school in Saigon. Lam is a recipient of the Giller Prize for literature, and balances a medical career with his career in literature; he bases some of his work on his time in medical school. The Headmaster's Wager has been shortlisted for this year's Governor General's Literary Award.
North York Central Library - Auditorium (5120 Yonge Street) 7PM

MARKETPLACE | One Of A Kind
The One Of A Kind Christmas Show and Sale has been running at the Direct Energy Centre since last week, and offers an amazing array of alternatives for your gift or personal shopping for the holiday season. Instead of fighting the crowds at a generic mall, you can actually enjoy yourself, and consider it an "experience," with a huge selection of vendors offering items you would expect at a craft show, like candles, ceramics, and visual art, as well as body care products, furniture, food products, jewelry, and so much more. Think of the venue as a carefully curated marketplace that guarantees both quality and originality for your gift giving this year. The One Of A Kind Christmas show and sale ends this Sunday, and is open until 11pm this Thursday evening.
Direct Energy Centre, Exibition Place 10AM - 9PM, $12 online or $14 on-site ($7 seniors/students)

BOOKS & LIT | Toronto Erotica Writers and Readers--November!
It's time for another Toronto Erotica Writers and Readers meetup. This like-minded community congregates regularly as a way of lending support, and exchanging ideas and information; a unique dynamic is created among fans of this 'niche' strain of literature, and things go well beyond just about "talking shop." Tonight, in addition to a general discussion, there will be writing exercises, and the open mic segment that is a regular part of these events.
Tequila Bookworm (512 Queen Street West) 7PM $5
