Radar: Cream of Comedy, Fozzy and Candlelight Red, Systems of Survival, Hallowe'en Hilarity

COMEDY | Cream of Comedy
The Tim Sims Encouragement Fund was created to honour the memory of comic actor Tim Sims, a Toronto talent who died of AIDS at the very young age of 34, and was actively involved in fundraising every Christmas for various local charities. Tonight, five local talents will compete for the Tim Sims Award of Recognition, which includes $5,000 and a scholarship for the Second City Training Centre. Nominees Robert Keller, Jamie O'Connor, Christi Olson, Ben Beauchemin, and the sketch team of Templeton Philharmonic will do their best, and hope the carefully selected jurors smile (and laugh!) upon them. Kristeen Von Hagen is tonight's host.
Second City (51 Mercer Street) 8PM $15

MUSIC | FOZZY, Candlelight Red & So Sick Social Club
Tonight finds The Mod Club filled with a lineup that could get really loud! Headlining act Fozzy answers the eternal question as to what makes the ultimate pairing with heavy metal, and the answer is, of course, "wrestling"! This band, hailing from Atlanta Georgia, is fronted by pro wrestler Chris Jericho, and they are currently touring their latest release, Sin and Bones. Also on tonight's bill are Candlelight Red and So Sick Social Club.
Virgin Mobile Mod Club (722 College Street) 7:30PM $16

FILM | Trans Film Screening Series: "Systems of Survival: Collected Shorts"
The Trans Film Screening Series hosts their usual monthly film event this evening, but this one's a little bit different: an all-short film program, entitled Systems of Survival: Collected Shorts. This collection of films explores the themes of 'coping' and 'survival.' Filmmakers include: Tee Tagor, Rashmi, Alexander Lee, Nia King, and several others. There will be an open discussion following the films.
William Doo Auditorium (45 Willcocks Street) 6PM FREE
