Radar: Epicure's Review, Pamenar Balcony Art Series, Roundtable Live, Golden Hour, Correspondances

FILM | Epicure's Review
Food and film buffs will receive double satisfaction at the Revue's June instalment of Epicure's Review, a monthly film series that comes with a bite to eat. A screening Ang Lee's wildly popular 1993 film The Wedding Banquet, the story of a gay New Yorker with traditional Taiwanese parents pressuring him to marry, will be accompanied by Asian cuisine with a twist. Pizzeria Defina will be providing pizzas with toppings like bok choy, Szechuan chicken and water chestnuts while special guest chef Vanessa Yeung will discuss some of her specialties. Chinese food and Taiwanese cinema, all for the price of one trip to the movies!
The Revue Cinema (400 Roncesvalles Avenue) 6:30PM $12

ART | Pamenar Balcony Art Series
Leave it to Kensington to put a little art love in the heart of a local café. Augusta Avenue's popular Café Pamenar has curated a series by Rafi Ghanaghounian that will feature four artists across all levels of expertise displaying their work for three months of the year, both indoors and out. Occupying a large panel on the café's balcony, established Toronto artist Mike Parsons opens his exhibit HEY APATHY! in the space tonight. This award-winning artist has exhibited at the AGO and Scotiabank Nuit Blanche as well as in 5 solo shows, but none are quite like the genre-mixing drawings and animations of the future that he has envisioned in APATHY. Hit up this local market coffee spot for an evening of art and creative locals who are anything but apathetic.

COMMUNITY | Roundtable Live
Passionate about social issues? Then sit in on a meeting of great minds that are influencing the way we think about becoming a sustainable society at the launch of Roundtable Live, a platform where socially conscious people get together to discuss ideas. The first Roundtable takes place tonight at Ryerson University, with streaming access available online, and will feature speakers like Ryan Dyment, Executive Director of Zeitgeist Movement Toronto, Trey Winney, organizer of Occupy Toronto, media aficionado Barbara Mercer, as well as several members of Mutual Responsibility Toronto. Topics will include social justice and sustainability with a live chat happening online for those who cannot lend their voices in person. Get talking, get involved and get passionate!
Ryerson University, Kerr Hall Gymnasium (379 Victoria Street) 7PM Free

MUSIC & WORDS | Golden Hour
A party, a poetry reading and a performance, Placebo Space's Golden Hour is an evening of music and words for big talents in a small space. Poet Ryan Van Winkle will be playing host for the evening, introducing the likes of artist and cartoonist Dan Meth and poets Leah Kotsildis and Natalie Zina Walschots, before Montreal pop folk artist JF Robitaille and Let The Wooden Sky frontman Gavin Gardiner perform. Forest Publications will announce the launch of their anthology "This Will Explain Everything," a visual encyclopedia of the fictional and useless. How much talent can you smush into a Placebo Space? More than an hour can handle.
Placebo Space (1409 Bloor Street West, Apartment A) 8PM

ART | Correspondances
Amandine has studied textiles in Paris and has worked as a visual artist in France. She has explored the world and now settled in Toronto, and she now brings the ideas, writings, patterns and prints gathered from her travels to fruition in Correspondances, a new exhibit opening at S Sense In Design tonight. With collages comprised of fabrics, plants and words, that have been dyed, stretched and damaged, Amandine has created souvenirs that act as correspondences to her past. Stroll by this tiny little shop to catch a glimpse at one woman's travels, on display for just a short time.
S Sense In Design (698 Coxwell Avenue) 6PM Free
