MUSIC | Canadian Music Week Launches
If you couldn't make it to SXSW, and holding out for NXNE is not an option, then you know you've got to check out Canadian Music Week! This festival kicks off in TO tonight, and will take over the city and all its primo venues until the 25th. Nearly all of your favourite haunts will be hosting shows: from the Bovine to C'est What to The Cameron House. The number of acts participating is also staggering. Of course, there are the "headliners", including a few '90s acts from here in TO that seem to have been newly resurrected for the occasion, but this kind of festival is about the fresh and largely 'undiscovered' talent, so definitely be sure to check out some of tomorrow's headliners, too. The only way to get a grip and stay sane is to check out our preview post and the official schedule here, and come up with a plan of attack that works best for you!
Various Toronto venues until March 25th

BOOKS & LIT | Crime Showcase
Authors at Harbourfront Centre presents a showcase of crime fiction for your enjoyment this evening at the Brigantine Room. Irish author John Brady, whose "Minogue series" has been a bit of a hit, is one of tonight's guests, along with Ian Hamilton, the creative mind behind the series of mystery novels featuring the character Ava Lee. Also appearing this evening are Canadian authors Matt Lennox, David Rotenberg, and Howard Shrier. Andrew Pyper will host a question and answer period following the readings.
Brigantine Room, Harbourfront Centre (235 Queens Quay West) 7:30PM $10 / Free for students/members/youth

COMEDY | SWITCH OFF!
A night of comedy 'troupe' action! Touch My Stereotype has put together "Switch Off" — a friendly sketch comedy competition. Stand up is great, but nothing beats a finely honed group effort! Tonight your sides will be split as a special program of sketch comedy goes down with some of TO's finest gathered together under one roof. Tonight's lineup includes The Boom, She Said What, and Tony Ho. Should be good!
Comedy Bar (945 Bloor Street West) 9:30PM $8

THEATRE | Morro and Jasp: Go Bake Yourself Returns at Cahoots Theatre
Tonight, a special preview of "Morro and Jasp: Go Bake Yourself" at the Cahoots Theatre Company, just as this production launches its TO run. This show is reported to be an interesting cross between a clown-oriented comedy and a cooking show! The duo in question are played by Amy Lee and Heather Marie Annis, in collaboration with director Byron Laviolette. This show runs until March 31st.
Cahoots Theatre Company (388 Queen Street East, Unit 3) 8PM $15
