Radar: Jane's Addiction, Graphic Novelettes, Laughable At Unlovable!, Elvis Monday, Short & Sweet, Comedy Cabaret at the Charlotte Room

MUSIC | Jane's Addiction at Massey Hall
Jane's Addiction hits Massey Hall tonight. These guys are one of the pioneering bands of alt-rock who, of course, have been doing their thing long before that term existed! There have been a few hiatuses in the band's history, but they are now back at it, having released "The Great Escape Artist" last October. This is their first album in eight years, after a process of writing and recording that involved a few complications regarding the bass "chair" of the band. Regardless, 'live' is where it's at for music like this, and Massey Hall is where you will find it tonight!

ART | Graphic Novelettes
The graphic novel is the focus of an exhibition of student work this afternoon at U of T's Hart House library. Printmaker and graphic novel creator, George Walker, will deliver an interesting lecture and discussion about this enigmatic medium. Depending on one's definition of "graphic novel" the history of this format could be traced back to the medieval woodcut tradition, or Blake's illustrated works. Certainly this is a format that has long come back into fashion, even enjoying something of a cult following. As a bonus, there will be some free novelettes up for grabs at this event, as well.

COMEDY | Laughable At Unlovable! With Digiovanni, Locke, Sirota and more!
Get your dose of comedy tonight at Unloveable! It's no secret that Monday's can be a tremendous drag, as your inbox starts to fill up, your to-do list swells out of control, and the long evaporated joy of last weekend becomes almost as distant a reality as the possibility of the next one arriving anytime soon... You need a good laugh. Tonight Laughable At Unloveable has some professional help for you in the form of: Chris Locke, Ian Sirota, Alex Pavone, Nick Flanagan, and Jon Schabl, along with host Steph Tolev. They don't call it the best medicine for nothing!
Unlovable (1415-B Dundas Street West) 8:30PM

MUSIC | Elvis Monday
A Toronto rock 'n' roll tradition that carries on — Elvis Monday! For those of us who live for the music, who seek out those true moments that can only be described as "heavy," Elvis Monday is a reliable and trusted source. So much so that musical lineups are rarely announced in advance any more, but this has little impact on attendance. There's a trust factor at work here, and the fact that this weekly showcase has been delivering cutting edge music for over 20 years plays a big part in its success. It dosen't hurt that there's never a cover, either!
The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West) 9PM
