CULTURE | dandyhorse Magazine Spring 2011 Issue Launch Party
Tonight at The Gladstone, dandyhorse Magazine will launch its Spring 2011 issue with a great bash! This magazine, which supports the Toronto Cyclists' Union, takes its moniker from from the golden age of cycling in 19th century London when it was quite glam ("dandy" is the uber-old school term for "glam", in case you didn't know) to seen out biking. The launch tonight will feature music by DJ Triple X, and a raffle: you could win an Opus Cervin Bike, simply by purchasing a raffle ticket for $5. If you are a part of, or want to show support for TO's "biking"/"cycling" culture, you may want to check this event out.

MUSIC | Friendly Fires and Wise Blood
Described as "Dance-Punk", the UK's Friendly Fires hit the Phoenix this evening for a gig that will get fans' week started right. They are touring their very recent release "Pala", which, in the tradition of The Doors, takes its name from a nugget in the 'goldmine' of Aldous Huxley's work. In this case, the name of a utopian island from the author's last novel. The album has been getting big thumbs up. Signed to British dance label XL Recordings, these guys were nominated last year for two Brit Awards including Brisitsh Breakthrough Act! They are joined on the bill by Wise Blood.

MUSIC | Shoeless Monday
If checking out some local up 'n' comers in a great venue is where you're at this evening, Shoeless Mondays at The Horseshoe Tavern is always a great bet. Tonight The Vibes headline, with openers Impulse, and The Infinity Intention. Do come out and support local music!

FILM | Short & Sweet
There's no better way to relax on a Monday night than some good short films. Short & Sweet is a cool weekly event that began in the UK, and has launched here in TO this year. Set in a very casual social environment where you can get out, mingle, and still feel at home, this new "movie night" and hip venue are catching on! Entry is always free.
No One Writes To The Colonel (460 College Street) 8PM FREE
