Radar: Art Battle 14, The Script at Kool Haus, Great Canadian Lunch-In, The Maine at Phoenix, Home is Where the Heat Is, Summer in the Square, Mimico Village Tulip Festival

ART | Art Battle 14
A tournament in the name of the arts, 16 painters will compete to win the title of champion at this year's Art Battle. Armed only with paintbrushes, acrylic paints and canvasses, 8 painters have been pre-selected and 8 more will be selected via lottery tonight to compete in 20 minute rounds that will advance two winners to the finals. This is the 14th Art Battle competition and, as always, it will take place in front of a live audience who will vote in the champion and participate in the auction afterward. Toronto based DJ Holotape will accompany the games with music.

MUSIC | The Script at Kool Haus
Irish band The Script come to Toronto tonight to perform their sophomore album Science & Faith at the Kool Haus. Having only ever played Windsor back in 2009, the adult pop band is back in Canada for their only Canadian show on the Science & Faith tour. In their first ever Toronto concert, the band brings their melodic piano-loaded music and a performance of their popular platinum single "Breakeven." Chris Medina not included.

AWARENESS | Great Canadian Lunch-In
In honour of Hunger Awareness Day, Food Banks Canada is broadening the social consciousness of hunger in Canada by hosting a lunch-in. This sit-in lunch gathering will take place at the former Metro Square, now David Pecaut Square, where people will gather to donate, eat lunch and discuss this solvable problem that affects thousands of Canadian children. The day will feature speakers opening discussions about the prevalence of hunger in Canada as well as live music and activities. Event attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch or a lunch bag containing a financial donation as well as food donations.

MUSIC | The Maine at Phoenix Concert Theatre
Having recently been awarded Best Song, Best Live Band and Album of the Year by Alternative Press Magazine, The Maine have steadily been gaining attention on the alt rock scene since signing with Warner Bros. Records in 2009. The Arizona boys come to the Phoenix tonight to play their second full-length album Black & White, which features pop-y vocals and a strong presence of acoustic guitar. San Diego rockers Augustana will open the show.

ENVIRONMENT | Home is Where the Heat Is
The scarcity of natural gas and the financial and environmental impacts that result are the focus of this speaker panel, which brings experts from The Toronto Zeitgeist Movement and Post Carbon Toronto together on the topic of energy efficiency. David Elfstrom, Greg Allen and Peter Shepherd from Post Carbon Toronto will talk about conservation in the home while Ryan Dyment from Toronto Zeitgeist will discuss how a resource-based economy and alternatives to natural gas can help to achieve new goals in protecting the environment.
