Kevin Breit Toronto

Radar: Kevin Breit and Domenic Mancuso at Lula Lounge, Wear2Work Style Showcase, Welcome to Hell tour, Tommy Youngsteen & the Million Dollar Band Warchild Benefit, Hey Rosetta! Gramercy Riffs

MUSIC | Kevin Breit/Domenic Mancuso
Two awesome talents on one bill tonight at Lula! Kevin Breit is known in many circles as a "first call" guitarist, having maintained a very long stretch as the most ubiquitous session musician in Toronto. His two original projects, Folkalarm! and Sister's Euclid are held in very high esteem by critics, fans, and fellow musicians. Breit has also been on recordings by Natalie McMaster, Celine Dion, KD Lang, and many, many more.... and the secret leaked South of the border long ago, where he has worked with Norah Jones, Cassandra Wilson, Ani DeFranco, and others. Sharing the bill is Juno Award winner Domenic Manuso, who will be in the company of some great sidemen, including Davide DiRenzo, Russ Boswell, and Tony Zorsi. He also won the Canadian Folk Music award in 2010 for "World Soloist of the Year", and has a strong local following. This is a show not to be missed!
Lula Lounge (1585 Dundas West) 7PM $15

FASHION | Wear2Work Style Showcase
Toronto designer Sonja Vejin has organized this fundraiser and showcase at The Great Hall tonight. She has undertaken to produce various "high fashion work wear" ensembles using only second-hand clothing purchased at Value Village. Donations will be accepted at the door towards an undisclosed, and yet-to-be-established non-profit organization geared towards helping recent female immigrants in the workforce. DJ Element will be spinning at the afterparty which begins at 9pm and goes into the night.
The Great Hall (1087 Queen Street West) FREE (donation suggested)

MUSIC | "Welcome To Hell" Tour @ Opera House
Devil-horns will be raging tonight at the "Welcome To Hell Tour" rolls into town! Headliners Whitechapel, from Knoxville, Tennessee are a death-metal band who have named themselves after the town in England that was terrorized by Jack The Ripper. They formed in 2006, and have 3 official releases out and plenty of touring under their belt. Also on the bill tonight are other bands of the "deathcore" variety Veil of Maya, Chelsea Grin, I Declare War, and The Acacia Strain, who don't like the "deathcore" label, thinking of themselves as merely "aggressive". Either way, they will fit in perfectly with the rest of this hellish lineup!
The Opera House (735 Queen St E) 6PM $21.50

MUSIC | Tommy Youngsteen & the Million Dollar Band Warchild Benefit
Yes, this is a tribute band doing covers of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and Neil Young. This is far from your average cover band, however... This outfit has been playing shows all over the province, and is made up of some of the finest, most rockin' musicians from the Sam Roberts Band, Arkells, Stars, and The Stills. With part of the proceeds will go to Warchild Canada, it's a great excuse to go out and hear some music you love, and you can pat yourself on the back for doing the right thing!
The Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen Street West) 9:30PM $12
