CULTURE | Lunacy Cabaret - XXX-Mas Special
What would the holiday season be like without clowns, and a vaudeville vibe? Sketchy Santa and his gang will make you appreciate the festive season all the more by subverting it to no end: comedy, acrobatics, music and more! There's a warning in place that this show might offend, so how can you go wrong?

MUSIC | Phantogram w/ Bad Tits at Wrongbar
Phantogram, a duo from Saratoga Springs, NY bring their eclectic sound to town for an awesome show tonight. A strong electronic foundation allows for morphing melodies, and an array of influences to permeate their ephemeral sound. Elvis Mondays favorites Bad Tits will open the show.

MUSIC | Silverstein at The Kool Haus
This gang from Burlington has been taking the post-hardcore world by storm, since forming in 2000. Now freshly signed to a new label, there's a brand new EP out this week, in anticipation of a full release in 2011. They will be rocking hard tonight. Also on the bill are The Devil Wears Prada, For Today, and Counterparts.

FILM | Crime Wave
Author and renowned cinephile Mike White will discuss his new book "Impossibly Funky: A Cashiers du Cinemart Collection". White has been writing about obscure films and underground cultural artifacts from the film world for nearly a decade and a half. His discussion this evening will culminate in a screening of just such a film, "Crime Wave" a Canadian underground postmodern classic.

LITERATURE | Small Press of Toronto Winter Book Fair
The underground and DIY presses and publications are where cool things start.
Today at The Great Hall, you will find a wide assortment of zines, comics, chapbooks, journals, and much, much more. This is a great opportunity to get some extra holiday shopping done, or to simply find out about what's happening in the underground "press scene."

MUSIC | Tricky at The Mod Club
Adrian Thaws, aka. Tricky, former member of Massive Attack, and producer/musician credited with starting the whole 'trip-hop' thing going in the UK, rolls it out tonight at The Mod Club. Having collabed in the past with a list of musical who's-who, such as Mos Def, Alanis Morrisette, Bjork, Elvis Costello, Garbage, PJ Harvey, and many more, he brings a fresh sound with French and African influences to his latest release, "Mixed Race".

THEATRE | Les Coquettes Present "The War On Christmas"
Les Coquettes bring you a 40's style Christmas revue that's sure to take the edge off what can be one of the most stressful times of the year. There are two showings this evening, and with the talents of pianist/vocalist Tyler Yarema and Canadian Idol finalist Elena Juatco at work, this promises to be a stellar show.

MUSIC | SNOW DAY! Blocks + Tomboyfriend "Don't Go To School" Album Release Party
No holds barred tonight as Tomboyfriend's new CD "Don't Go To School" drops at The Garrison. Block's Recording Club, the same imprint that hosts releases by Owen Pallett, Kids On TV and more is behind tonight's CD release, with mayhem guaranteed. Guests include Random Order and The Craft Economy.

DANCE | Layali Arabesque for Christmas

LECTURE | Sunday Scene / Pamela Meredith
This Sunday, The Power Plant presents another of its weekly lectures from personalities, scholars, and curators within the world of art. The lecture format presents the guest's perspective on the gallery's current offerings, and more. Freelance curator Pamela Meredith with be this week's guest. Meredith has worked extensively here in Toronto, and most notably in Seattle, where she worked with Los Angeles artist Pae White and Polly Apfelbaum to create the exhibit "Hover" in 2003.
