ART | Sycophantastic: A Group Portrait Show
Local artist Celeste Adele Gillis has put together what promises to be a feast for the senses at the Annex's Tranzac Club tonight. There will be ten local artists displaying their works for sale in many mediums, including sculpture, photography, painting, and more. There will be snacks served, plus drinks at the bar, and music will be provided by the very psychedelic instrumental group The Starfires, and Jerry Leger and The Situation. The Tranzac Club (292 Brunswick Ave) PWYC

MUSIC | Mandippal LIVE in Toronto @ Supermarket for Go POP! w/ Lady Hayes!
Toronto's Mandippal Jandu has been a mainstay of the many "Artists To Watch For" lists for several years now. Having been nominated twice for the "Best Indie Rock" category at The Toronto Independent Music Awards, and receiving much favorable press along the way, this UK-born singer-songwriter exuded much confidence as an impromptu guest at cousin Talvin Singh's recent concert at The Great Hall. He will performing a set tonight at The Supermarket's weekly Go POP! showcase. Also on the bill are She Said Save Me and Lady Hayes. The Supermarket (268 Augusta Ave) 9pm PWYC

LITERATURE | How To Be A Bush Pilot: A Field Guide To Getting Luckier - Launch Party
Don't miss tonight's launch for the latest work by Toronto author, playwright, and Governor General's Award nominee Claudia Dey. She has penned what looks like a must-have guide for guys.... Or at least guys who enjoy "getting some". Who could pass up the opportunity to read a modern day Kama Sutra with all the secrets to pleasing the fairer sex? There will be a performance by Peter Elkas, and more. The Drake Hotel (underground) (1150 Queen St. W) 7pm $5

FILM | Scott Cudmore - A Film for Ollie Gilbert at 107 Shaw Gallery
Perhaps best known for creating the AUX TV series Camera Music, or for his work crafting music videos for artists such as Sloan and The Great Lake Swimmers, Scott Cudmore delivers something a little different this evening at the 107 Shaw Gallery space. Crossing the boundaries between film and 'sound-installation', this enigmatic screening will also feature a custom-created sound collage running simultaneously in the gallery. 107 Shaw Gallery (107 Shaw Street) 7pm FREE

MUSIC | Kayo Dot
The music of the NYC-based Kayo Dot has been labeled as avant-rock, and its progressive sound carries the influence of metal and other aggressive styles. Bandleader and composer Toby Driver's background in composition, however is what gives this music a distinctive and structured flavour. Also on the bill are Toronto bands Kosmograd and Gates. Sneaky Dee's (431 College St) 8pm $10
