Clock Tower Theatre presents Scott Douglas' The Harrowing.

Featuring Max Tepper and Eric Lehmann, "The Harrowing" is a psychological venture into the complex relationship that develops between a captive revolutionary and his torturer. At its essence it is a story about light and dark and the interplay between the two. We must ask where the one ends to leave space for the other; are they moral absolutes or self-reflexive constructs lacking rigidity? Our two characters, Yeshu and Romanus are pitted against each other as Romulus and Remus, sheer brute strength versus cunning and intellect. Yeshu draws from his intrinsic humanity, where Romanus draws from a codified sense of duty to the state and militaristic virtue. Perhaps Nietzsche offers the most insight when he says "Political superiority without any real human superiority is most harmful. One must... be ashamed of one's power... Any slackening of cultural tasks would turn this power into the most revolting tyranny."

Running May 29th to June 7th at The Storefront Theatre at 955 Bloor Street West. Run time: 1.5 hours with intermission.
