Contemporary Japanese Izakaya Tasting at Ryoji Ramen & Izakaya with Toronto Common

Ryoji Ramen & Izakaya is excited to introduce their new chef, Tetsuya Shimizu, with over 15 years experience including 10 years traditional training in Kaiseki cuisine in Tokyo as well as working at the Blue Water Cafe in Vancouver and Sous Chef at Yours Truly in Toronto with a new Toronto Common event.

Chef Tetsuya will be offering a contemporary Japanese with European influence 5 course izakaya tasting of new menu items with a tasting of sparkling sake for $48 tax and tip included for 3 days only, May 20th-22nd.

"Nimono" Mosaic Salad - daikon, carrot and lotus root all simmered separately in unique dashi broths that accent each vegetables unique flavours and highlights the unique flavour of dashi, served with okura (okra) puree and pickled beets.

Red Tuna Sashimi with Salted Wasabi Pesto - lightly cured red tuna marinated in garlic oil rolled in a thin sheet of fresh daikon and served with raspberry balsamic soy vinaigrette and sliced red onion.

Char Grilled Sous Vide Octopus with Chili Essence – precisely cooked octopus in vacuum sealed water bath, finished on the grill and served with octopus dashi gel and dry aosa seaweed.

Kobe Beef Steak with "Tonkotsu" Jus - grilled kobe beef served with smoked carrot butter, vacuum compressed spinach, and "Tonkotsu" reduction jus made from Ryoji's signature "Tonkotsu" ramen broth.

Ryoji Ramen & Izakaya, established in January 2013 in Toronto, but with multiple locations in Okinawa Japan, is the only Okinawan-style Izakaya in Toronto.

With Okinawa's rich history and slightly different culture from mainland Japan, Ryoji offers traditional and inventive cuisines and ramens reflective of the unique culture of Okinawa.

Simple yet delicate flavours, fresh ingredients, creative cuisine, served in a bistro style.

Staying true to the Ryoji values of gratitude, passion, and awareness, Ryoji looks to evolve their menu with appreciation to their surroundings and to continue to evolve the art of Japanese cuisine.

All tickets must be purchased online before 11pm the night before.

No tickets will be available at the door.

Minimum attendance: 4 people

Maximum attendance: 10 people

This is a communal event, guests will be seated with other guests.
