Podcast: Jeremy Wright on InsideBlogging

blogto_podcast_v2.JPG
Last week Toronto born blogger Jeremy Wright was back in the news about getting turned away by zealous American border cops trying to enter the US for a blogging job.

It was a busy week. He just launched his latest blog, The Wealthy Blogger, continues to run his blogging company InsideBlogging with Darren Barefoot, and still finds time to keep us informed of his daily life on ensight.org.

On today's podcast I talk with Jeremy about his blogs, the time he auctioned himself on Ebay and the difference between the Toronto and Vancouver blog scenes.

This is a big of a tangent, but just reading about his ordeal at the aiport brings back the worst memories for me.

I had every one of those same baseless threats made to me by US customs when I tried to cross the border is 2003. I was told that based on my age and experiences, it was obvious I was lying and trying to sneak into the US.

Some highlights:

"No boss would give you 2 weeks off" so therefore I had could not possibly have a real job.

"You claim to live at home and therefore have no place of residence" so therefore after living in my home for 22 years, was homeless.

"You have no proof that you have any reason to come back to Canada therefore we can only assume that you don't plan to."

How about, "WHY WOULD I WANT TO STAY?"

*gag*

The whole while, George Jr was staring at me from a portrait on the wall.

I was escorted by guards back across the border. It was the most pathetic scene by these morons I could have ever imagined.
