The Blogerati Files: Rock Snob

This week in the Blogerati Files - "Rock Snob"

Describe your blog in 10 words or less.
What I consider significant in music and entertainment news.

Why did you start your blog? Blogiversary?
My blog was born on November 5th 2002. The very day that Winona Ryder was found guilty of shoplifting. I was inspired.

Has blogging changed you or enhanced a personality trait?
Despite the blog's title, I've actually become a lot less snobby and pretentious about music since I started blogging. I've learned it's okay to appreciate all the things I used to consider "guilty pleasures" without having to make excuses for myself. I don't have anything to prove to anyone.

Do you have a favourite post from your blog?
Well some posts are definitely better than others but because I seriously can't remember anything I've written it's hard to have favourites. However, of all the posts I've written this year, I think I enjoyed writing about my experiences at Glastonbury Festival the most. If only to show off a bit.

Who are your fav blogger(s)?
Oh I could never pick favourites! But I will say that For The Records and Chromewaves are absolute essentials for any indie kids in Toronto.

Best blogger hangout in TO?
I always run into a few at concerts (The Mod Club, Lee's Palace, Horseshoe Tavern). But if there is some underground unofficial blogger hang-out then I'd appreciate an invite!

Ever met a stranger who already knew you through your blog? How was that?
I've met a few local bloggers. Michelle is absolutely lovely! And the men behind Modern Laundry, Let It Blog
and Finger Poppin are all great guys! I usually love meeting new people when but when it comes to meeting people who know me from my blog I get a bit nervous about disappointing them by not living up their pre-conceived notions. But aside from my own issues, everyone's been really lovely.

Lose any friends or muck something up because of a post?
No, as a matter of fact, most of my good friends don't read my blog... But I do live in constant fear of my family finding it and discovering what a dirty mouth I have.

What's happening in Toronto right now that the rest of us should be watching?
I see so many beautiful young people in Toronto just trying way too hard to be hip and fashionable these days and their effort is far too obvious. I call them "try-hards". They're also usually the ones at concerts who don't care about the bands or the music but just care about being seen and saying they were there... They are the enemy!!!

You wake up and discover you're a flesh eating zombie. Now that you're undead, who are you gonna mange first?
Kate Moss. So I could steal her crackhead boyfriend.

If your blog were a food, what food would it be?
This is embarrassing but I'm going to have to go with the club sandwich. It's classic and has a bit of everything going on. Plus it's tasty. Mmmm. Bacon.

If you could gather all of the bloggers of the world together into one room and tell them one thing, what would it be?
"I'm sure if we all put our heads together we can think of SOMETHING better to do with our lives."

Anything else you'd like to add...
As much as we'd all like to believe it, Toronto is not the center of the universe. Life exists outside of the city too!
