What's open and closed on Boxing Day 2011 in Toronto:

Closed

  • LCBO and Beer stores
  • Government offices and banks
  • Public libraries and museums
  • City services like garbage pick-up
  • No mail delivery

Open

  • Most grocery stores (although some will close earlier than usual)
  • Shopping malls! (many with extend hours until 10:00 p.m.)
  • Major movie theatres
  • Toronto's public skating rinks will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Restaurants

  • Many restaurants will be back to their standard opening hours, but it's best to call ahead (not all are open on Mondays to begin with)

Public Transit

  • The TTC will operate on a holiday schedule (i.e. reduced frequency, but subway service to Finch will operate until approximately 2:00 a.m.) and GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule
