Cowbell gets LEAF designation

Parkdale's Cowbell restaurant is the first in Toronto to receive LEAF (Leaders in Environmentally Accountable Foodservice) certification for its eco-friendly operation. After submitting for accreditation, the restaurant wen through an extensive evaluation process, the result of which is a level two standing. LEAF certification comes in three levels, with higher numbers representing lower environmental impact.

Cowbell owner Mark Cutrara was happy to receive the recognition. "It is a testament to our dedication to sustainability, as referenced through our locally sourced food choices and day-to-day business operations," he said in a press release.

Along with sourcing much of their food within a 200km radius, the restaurant is also adorned with re-purposed furniture and recycled materials.
