Conflict in Baird Park over proposed dog park

Residents near Baird Park on Keele north of Bloor are butting heads over a proposed off-leash area in the park's green space.

Currently home to a lawn bowling pitch, a wading pool and a children's playground, an application was submitted last year by a local dog owners' association to create an off-leash area for dogs. Parents are concerned that the dog area may be right beside the playground, potentially compromising the safety of their children.

A decision on where the dog area will be is expected by the end of the month. Meanwhile, some residents are circulating a petition to keep the off-leash area away from the east side of the park.
