Chinatown grocer found not guilty

David Chen, the Chinatown grocer who apprehended and held a shoplifter last May, was acquitted of all charges by a judge today.

Chen faced assault and forcible confinement charges for apprehending Anthony Bennett, who stole from Chen's store repeatedly on the day he was seized by Chen and two of his associates.

Chen thanked his supporters after the verdict was read, saying, "I feel very, very good." Meanwhile, Bennett is still facing theft charges.
