Joe Pantalone gets endorsement from Jack Layton

Truly, the most unlikely of allies.

Federal NDP Leader Jack Layton threw his support behind mayoral candidate Joe Pantalone at a news conference at Nathan Phillips Square this morning. Layton said Pantalone has "the experience, the prudence and the courage," to take on the city's top job. The endorsement comes three months after Pantalone endorsed Layton's son Mike, who is running to replace Pantalone as councillor for Ward 19. D'aww.

"Jack Layton's endorsement means that there's no illusion of some make-believe progressive candidates," Pantalone said. "There's only one progressive candidate in this race for mayor and that's Joe Pantalone."

Last week, some Liberals, including former premier Bob Rae, threw their support behind George Smitherman.

Any predictions on what's next? Hudak for Ford? Miller for himself? Anyone?
