Toronto toilets in the running for national glory

Toronto's thrones have made it through to the final round of the Canada's Best Restroom Competition. Something -- finally -- we Torontonians can be proud of.

Cintas Canada Ltd. has narrowed the list of top toilets in Canada to five, three of which are in Toronto, and is now asking you to cast your vote for the winner.

Spice Route Asian Bistro & Bar on King Street made the cut, with its "eclectic Asian dĂŠcor" overlooking a "private garden oasis complete with authentic Asian statues and water features." Also on the list is Mildred's Temple Kitchen on Hanna, noted for its two installation pieces by Montreal Artist Alice Jarry. Last of the Toronto lavs: the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, praised for its eco-friendly facilities, stone and mosaic tiles and hardwood accents.

Vancouver's Shangri-La Hotel and Cactus Club CafĂŠ round up the list of finalists. The winner will be announced in September.

Somehow, the panel forgot to include the lovely facilities at Kipling Station. Oh well...next year.
