Mammoliti to drop out of mayoral race

The Toronto Sun is reporting that Giorgio Mammoliti is set to announce his departure from Toronto's mayoral race. An announcement from the candidate is scheduled for Monday, though no official confirmation of his resignation has been offered.

Mammoliti did, however, reveal that he will speak about "his candidacy and his political future."

Consistently the least popular candidate in pre-election polls, the presumed logic behind leaving the mayoral race is that it would allow him to seek re-election in Ward-7, where he is currently councillor.

Oh, Giorgio. Why did you have to say so much about guns and graffiti?
