New web site to save Toronto heritage buildings?

Know about a beloved building about to be torn down to make way for a shiny new condo? Are fresh neighbors in your area threatening to demolish a house and rebuild it to make it accessible? (The nerve!)

A new website called This Place Matters has just been launched under the direction of Lloyd Alter of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario. This Place Matters is a place to document heritage sites at risk, to be used as an "early warning system." An interactive map with picture and video capabilities shows buildings and environments that are being neglected or slated for demolition.

A number of reports have already been filed for buildings in and around Toronto. Though still in the early beta stage, This Place Matters promises mobile networking capabilities soon.
