Jays move home series to Philadelphia to avoid G20 security woes

Posted by Jerrold Litwinenko / May 11, 2010

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced that they've moved a home series against the Phillies... to Philadelphia.

Games that were scheduled for June 25th, 26th and 27th at Rogers Centre have been moved to Philadelphia to avoid potential security problems and general chaos and disruption associated with the G20 summit meetings being held at the nearby Metro Toronto Convention Centre during that time.

It's too bad, because this series was supposed to mark the much anticipated return of ex-Jay Roy "Doc" Halladay to Toronto.

More at the Toronto Star.

Just another thing to thank our Toronto-hating federal government for...

Every dumbass who agreed to have it here should also be shipped off to Philadelphia.

Why not a neutral site? They moved a Cubs/'Stros series to Milwaukee due to a hurricane in Houston.

Yeah, seriously. Why not have it at Comerica Park in Detroit or some other such relatively-nearby venue? That way it's accessible for either Phillies or Toronto fans.
The Tigers are even out of town that weekend!

Why not move it to Cocoa Cola field in Buffalo?

That would be different and maybe pick up new fans having it in Buffalo, a city without a team.

With the record low attendance the Jays are seeing, they probably could have moved this series to Centennial Park in Etobicoke, or Christie Pits. :P
