Giambrone leaving politics

Posted by Tim / April 12, 2010

It shouldn't come as a surprise but the Star has the goods that Adam Giambrone won't be running for re-election in Ward 18, essentially ending his career (for now) in municipal politics. Kevin Beaulieu, currently Giambrone's executive assistant and the guy who was forced to announce his boss was ending his mayoral bid at that tearful press conference, admitted to the Star earlier today that he plans to run in his place.

That's a real shame. I hope he's leaving only because he's got something else lined up for himself that is better and not because of the mayoralty race. He's good for Toronto.

It's a pity his career ended so suddenly and early.
He did make a serious judgement error and now he's
paying the price.

I hope he'll be back in the future and will bring his
enthusiasm for service again to the public forum.

In the meantime, he'll be in a near orbit to politics
and still active in archaeology.

We need more people in public service who have the
same energy and enthusiasm. We need fewer carpers
like Minnan-Wong and Ford.

Toronto can be a better place. It needs people who
are inspired in leadership.

The last real leadership here was Crombie and, before
him, Nathan Philips and Freddie Gardiner
