Hot Ticket Concerts Toronto

Hot Ticket: Blink 182, My Chemical Romance, Manchester Orchestra, Slim Twig, U.S. Girls, Sun Ra Ra Ra, The Weather Station, Daniel Romano, EONS, Scattered Trees, The Alternate Routes and Against Me!

Live music picks for WEDNESDAY AUGUST 17 through TUESDAY AUGUST 23, 2011.

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 17 / BLINK 182 / MOLSON AMPHITHEATRE / 909 LAKESHORE W / $32-$79 / ALL AGES
Pop-punk bands My Chemical Romance and Manchester Orchestra open for Blink 182, who make their return to the stage and studio after eight years. Expect the trio to play a good mix of old fast-punk favourites and some new tracks off their soon-to-be-released sixth LP Neighborhoods.

THURSDAY AUGUST 18 / SLIM TWIG & U.S. GIRLS / DAKOTA TAVERN / 249 OSSINGTON AVE / $7 / 19+
Peterborough, Ontario's Sun Ra Ra Ra will invoke movement and dance trances with psycho and experimental songs as they open for London, Ontario's U.S. Girls and local Slim Twig, who celebrate the release of their split 12". U.S. Girls spirals in and out of control with psychedelic and ear-jarring soundscapes, while Slim Twig (now joined by a live band) performs his quirky and messy jives with full force.

FRIDAY AUGUST 19 / THE WEATHER STATION / CSI ANNEX / 720 BATHURST ST / $10 / 19+
It's going to be a family and friends' affair as Daniel Romano and folk trio EONS start off the show at the new CSI Annex, which welcomes The Weather Station, the solo project of Bruce Peninsula member Tamara Lindeman, who plays in support of her sophomore LP All Of It Was Mine. In our Call & Response interview, we asked Lindeman what her fans might expect at her CD Release show to which she replied: "Myself playing with Dan (Romano) and Misha (Bower) for the first time, a reunion, a surprise, and hopefully something beautiful."

SATURDAY AUGUST 20 / SCATTERED TREES / DRAKE HOTEL / 1150 QUEEN ST W / $11.50 / 19+
Chicago's Scattered Trees are an indie-rock band, reconnected by the loss of lead singer Nate Eiesland's father. Their new LP Sympathy, appropriately titled as a dedication to Eiesland's father, features a mix of lush harmonies and slow, slumbering acoustics. The Alternate Routes join the line-up as Scattered Trees prepare to deliver melancholy elegies and bursts of raucousness.

MONDAY AUGUST 22 / AGAINST ME! / THE MOD CLUB / 722 COLLEGE ST / $25 / ALL AGES
Gainesville Florida punk-band Against Me! ride on a high after the release of last year's LP White Crosses. They put on old school punk shows, playing their blend of tribal beats, high-pressure guitar work and roaring anthems that incite crowd surfs and stage dives.
