Hot Ticket: Yelle, French Horn Rebellion, Peter Bjorn & John, Bachelorette, Rebekah Higgs, Brian Borcherdt, Kite Hill, John Vanderslice, Huddle, and Neil Young

Live music picks for WEDNESDAY MAY 4 through TUESDAY MAY 10, 2011.

WEDNESDAY MAY 4 / YELLE / OPERA HOUSE / 735 QUEEN ST E / $21.50/ 19+
Fresh from their California adventure where they rocked out Coachella Valley, the French electro-pop trio Yelle - led by the leopardess Julie Budet - bring their Safari Disco Club LP to the Opera House. Yelle pounces on stage with stadium-ready songs like "Safari Disco Club" and "Que Veux-Tu" - all sung in Budet's silky native tongue, leaving their audience roaring and dancing all night long. And the animal disco circus begins wild with openers French Horn Rebellion.

FRIDAY MAY 6 / PETER BJORN & JOHN / LEE'S PALACE / 529 BLOOR ST W / $20 / 19+
Bachelorette, a one-woman (Annabel Alpers) electronic project from New Zealand, joins Swedish indie-pop trio Peter Bjorn & John at Lee's Palace, who play in support of their sixth LP Gimme Some. Despite being haunted by the "one-hit wonder" stigma, PB&J's newest record showcases the band's return to form and their showmanship on stage that makes them a must-see act.

SATURDAY MAY 7 / REBEKAH HIGGS / DRAKE HOTEL / 1150 QUEEN ST W / $10 / 19+
Rebekah Higgs brings in the May flowers with her month-long "Kiss the Crocus Tour", which stops by the Drake Hotel on Saturday. Expect Higgs to play her sunny songs from her charming and romantic four-track EP Little Voice, as well as tracks from her upcoming sophomore album. Joining Higgs at Drake Hotel are Brian Borcherdt and Kite Hill.

TUESDAY MAY 10 / JOHN VANDERSLICE / DRAKE HOTEL / 1150 QUEEN ST W / $13.50 / 19+
Toronto indie quartet Huddle starts off the night for singer-songwriter/producer John Vanderslice at Drake Hotel. Vanderslice's newest LP White Wilderness - fully arranged with horns, strings and percussion by Magik Magik Orchestra - will likely be scaled back on the live setting, but expect the singer with the boyish looks to put on a solid performance.

TUESDAY MAY 10 / NEIL YOUNG / MASSEY HALL / 178 VICTORIA ST / $89.50+ / ALL AGES
The legendary Neil Young, whose career continues to thrive, plays his first of two shows at Massey Hall on Tuesday. His latest release Le Noise earned Young four outstanding awards, including a 2011 Grammy Award for Best Rock Song ("Angry World") and three Juno Awards, beating Bieber Mania for Artist of the Year. Catch Neil Young at Massey Hall on Tuesday and Wednesday night with special guest Bert Jansch.
