Live music picks for WEDNESDAY JANUARY 5 through TUESDAY JANUARY 11, 2011.

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 5 / THE UNDRUMMER / RANCHO RELAXO / 300 COLLEGE ST / PWYC / 19+
The New Year kicks off with the tried and true Two Way Monologues PWYC series at Rancho Relaxo, featuring Jake Richter, The Morning Thieves and, headlining the night, The Undrummer, which is Tom Dunbar of Big Crimes' new project. The Undrummer has been getting some nice buzz as of late, blending a mix of experimental indie with some electronic beats that can easily be compared to one of 2010's breakout stars, Diamond Rings.

THURSDAY JANUARY 6 / SNAILHOUSE / EL MOCAMBO / 464 SPADINA AVE / $8 / 19+
Montreal's Snailhouse, who are looking to release a new record early this year, return to Toronto on Thursday for a wonderful night of Folk music at the El Mo, which also featuring performances from Julie Fader and Wayne Petti of Cuff the Duke.

FRIDAY JANUARY 7 / COSMIC EYE / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / $7 / 19+
The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern hosts a night of local talent on Friday, capped off with The Cosmic Eye, an experimental indie rock band with some great male/female co-vocals. Also on the bill is 40 Sons, who are a heavier alternative group from Hamilton, Life Blown Open and, my personal favourite of the night, Hear, Comes the Cavalry, a fine Indie Folk band with lots of potential in 2011.

SATURDAY JANUARY 8 / TREASURE FINGERS / SOCIAL / 1100 QUEEN ST W / $10 / 19+
Brooklyn, New York's Treasure Fingers looks to continue the New Years party at the Social on Saturday, bringing his internationally renowned DJing to Toronto and some special guests along with him thanks to Embrace and the Faktory.
