Jeff Healey (March 25th 1966 - March 2nd 2008)

Posted by Jerrold Litwinenko / March 2, 2008

I just got very sad word through a 680news breaking alert that the Juno award-winning Toronto blues-rock great Jeff Healey has lost his long battle with cancer and died in his home at the age of 41.

Blind since he was just 1-year old, he began playing guitar as a toddler and honed his skills with his signature guitar-on-the-lap style. Healey, the heart of the highly-acclaimed Jeff Healey Band, also ran the popular Toronto jazz/rock/blues bar Jeff Healey's Roadhouse.

Jeff Healey, his raw talent, and his dedication to and support for the Canadian jazz and blues-rock scenes will be greatly missed.

Far too young to go. He's done so much for the Toronto Music Community. CL

His new album comes out on the 22nd... bittersweet.
Rest in peace JH.

So sad :(

At the Blue Rodeo show the night before, Jim Cuddy dedicated the song Try to Jeff Healey. The next day, I heard this news.
This is a big loss to the music community :(
