Open Mic Night at the Renaissance Cafe

Posted by Tanja / April 23, 2007

Open StageA fresh new open mic night has come to my attention, and while I sit here contemplating whether or not to dust off the old Ibanez, I figure I'll share the details with all the other musicians up early enough to be cruising blogTO this morn.

Host, Emma-lee and Toronto electronic-pop performer, Sarah Shafey (pictured) will warm up the stage (and crowd) tomorrow, April 24th, for "Open Stage" at the Renaissance Cafe.

Anyone is welcome but plan to be there at least an hour early to sign up if you're set on performing.

Showtime is 9pm. Cover = FREE.

Renaissance Cafe is located at 1938 Danforth Ave, one block west of Woodbine.

Maybe I'll see you there.

Tanja,
What kind of Ibanez? Guitar? Bass?...I'm an old bass player with an Ibanez bass...(I had a Rickenbacker in my Rush cover band days, which I miss tons, and no, I'm not nearly as good as Geddy:- )
Let's jam: - )

Steve - It's a 6-string Artcore hollowbody electric geetar that needs more exercise than i'm providing these days. It is my newest guitar -- fulfillment of a poor but wanting rockabilly dream.

Aw, that sounds like fun but I'm doing Hot Docs all week.
Sarah Shafey is a hard act to follow, though. She's great! My orchestra has accompanied her twice and everyone loved her.

Actually, i'm pretty rusty on the 6-string, compared to my camera... you'll win.
