Stop Die Resuscitate's Humpday Free-For-All

Your favourite local electro-thrash-hop oddballs and mine, Stop Die Resuscitate, offer fans two chances to catch their live experience this week: one tomorrow night and one at Friday's Pop With Brains 8, a recurring fundraiser that benefits CAMH.

The difference between the two shows?

Well, Wednesday night is all about SDR. Amp'd Mobile, in promoting a better mobile broadband experience for media lovers or some other bumpf, is bringing solid acts (Kardinal Offishal, Stars of Track and Field) to record sessions as free shows at their new studio (aka that ex-Motorcycle Cafe joint) on King West. Download your free SDR tix here, bearing in mind the slammin' sound system promised by vocalist coolhandLuke (pictured above, with mic) should add to the jam. (Did I mention the free beverages? Luke did, so I will.) Doors at 7PM, first come first served, show at 8 sharp.

As for Pop With Brains' eighth installment, for a mere $5, your Friday night escapades, hosted by comedian Chris Locke, will encompass live sets from Fjord Rowboat, Eden Ants (releasing a new EP), SDR and Spiral Beach -- UKULA-endorsed fun spanning genres like shoegazer pop, glam rock (look at Eden Ants' "influences" list) and ... New Wave? (Oh, Stop Die.) On display at the Riv Friday night will be works by Louise Ferguson (illustration), Nikki Mills (photography) and Sarah Dupont (painting). All proceeds to CAMH. Set times and more info here.
