Feelin' the Vibe: deejay scootz

It's not often I break out the robot when I'm at a bar. Okay, I'm lying. I break it out all the time but that being said, it's only when I'm listening to some kickin' beats that the automaton action is put forth.

Last Saturday I discovered that deejay scootz (a.k.a. Neil Livingston) has become the new resident DJ at the Rivoli pool hall. Not only has the environment changed since I've been there but so has the music. deejay scootz is selecting and spinning 12" LP's and rare 45's every Saturday until at least the fall.

After taking more than a few glances around the room, I noticed that everyone upstairs was feeling the vibe - including the couple making out near the bar. And you know what? I think the music helped me play a pretty stellar game of pool that night and I'm no shark.

Spinning Jazz, Sweet 60's Soul, 70's R&B, Funk, Disco, Hip-Hop, Conscious Reggae, Indian, Brazilian, African, Country, Rock and a diverse array of Electronic music I can see Rivoli's pool hall becoming a really great place to chill when I'm not up for the patio scene. And once the cooler weather comes on...look out! Full house, I'm sure. When deejay scootz isn't creating his aural magnificence at the Rivoli, he's the founding member of the Beatz Massive sound collective that plays around the city.

Come on. Funk it up.
