Sunday, July 30 - The weekly Wavelength Music Series (every Sunday night) is going to be hosting one hell of a good time when Jon-Rae & The River take over the corner of College & Bathurst for guaranteed good times! Also on the bill are Electo-Industrial dude Bad Robot(s), Evil Doer & the absolute craziness and physical fun of Garbage!Violence!Enthusiasm! Don't forget to bring a mallot! @ Sneaky Dee's (431 College St.), PWYC. -- Garry

Sunday, July 30 - A tribute to Canadian reggae promoter Karl Mullings (who passed away late last year) happens on Sunday. Mullings, who was a key player in developing/promoting the local reggae music scene, is remembered with performances by daughter Tanya Mullings (a budding reggae vocalist), along with Jason Wilson, The Sattalites, Jay Douglas, Carlos Morgan, and more. 8:30 pm @ Hugh's Room (2261 Dundas St. W.) $10, and donations to go to Cornwall College in Jamaica in Karl's name.-- Ryan

Tuesday August 1 though Sunday, August 6th - The existence of the Ford Plant in Brantford is a shining reminder that music = life exists outside the downtown core. That friendly little venue with the lime green walls hosts the Murdered City Music Festival, with a lineup that must be seen to be believed: The Sadies,The Hidden Cameras, Holy Fuck, The Blow, Yacht, Andre Either (Deadly Snakes), Hylozoists, Tokyo Police Club, The Meligrove Band, Jon Rae and The River, Matt Murphy (City Field / Superfriendz), The Old Soul, The Diableros, Ninja High School, The Barmitzvah Brothers, Born Ruffians, Ohbijou, We're Marching On, The D'urbervilles, Sourkeys + exhibits, sports and more. No, I'm serious. For real! FULL SCHEDULE: RIGHT HERE. Tues - Sun @ The Ford Plant (1 King Street, Brantford ON). $ = various / or $45 for weeklong pass. -- Beth

Thursday, August 3 - Toronto octet The Ghost is Dancing knows how to put on a show - sparklers, balloon animal headgear and confetti outbursts are not uncommon sights. Part faerie carnival, part music show, always a good time. Though they've been describe as "art rock", the term does not do them justice - this is a band that has to be experienced live. Otherworldly soundscapes meets serious rockage. Beautiful stuff, tis. (Pssst: The band also just got signed to Sonic Unyon and have an international release of their self-titled debut EP slated for mid-September. Giddyup.) 9 pm @ the Drake (1150 Queen W), $8. -- Panthea

I went to the wavelength show, and thought I'd post a very mini review.

Bad Robot:
If my bleeding ears are therapy for the performer, it was a huge success.

Garbage!Violence!Enthusiasm!:
No... Fuck YOU.

Jon-Rae:
Three words: Sermon by Meatloaf.

It didn't make the hot ticket because I was at Hillside over the weekend... but Wolf Parade is playing a sold out show at The Phoenix this Saturday, with opener Frog Eyes.
