Tom Green Makes No Impact With Me

*crickets*

That's how I've traditionally greeted Tom Green's zany brand of "humour." He sucks, basically. So when I got a copy of his new "hip hop" CD Prepare For Impact, I seriously thought about tossing it without a listen. But curiosity ultimately got the better of me. I wanted to know if the former MC Bones of the Juno-nominated (!?!) Organized Rhyme crew had improved his flow.

I thought it would be bad -- but it's worse than bad. It's downright awful. And once you get past gonzo songs like (the admittedly smirk-worthy) My Bum Is On Ya Lips and the bland production (EZ Mike aka Mike Simpson of the Dust Brothers) you're left wondering what's the point. Judging from the limited press he got for a scheduled appearance at a downtown Hooters this past Friday, I'm assuming many were wondering the same thing too.

I can't even tell if his rap record supposed to be a parody or just juvenile -- which is pretty much how I feel about the crazy Canuck himself. Don't waste your time.

Tom Green is without a doubt one of the
most bizarre strange people I've seen
on TV, and he does some incredibly
crazy and/or disgusting stuff quite
often, but he is incredibly funny
nonetheless.

It's an outrageous very sick twisted
sort of funny usually, but sometimes
that is what it takes to make someone
laugh for 30 minutes straight after
shutting the TV off, like I did last
night after watching some of the new
DVD that just came out of the
original series from Ottawa.

Tom is a whole new class of comedy all
on his own IMHO. Others who have come
after him, while often quite
entertaining in their own rights, are
in many ways mere immitators at best.

Tom's comedy seems to come from deep
within. Complete and total freedom
of expression without fear. He touches
upon what makes us cringe, what
embarasses us, what makes us laugh,
and much much more. His pranks are
often things that many of us may have
thought would be funny to do when we
were teenagers but never had the guts
to do for various fears, etc.

Bring back the Tom Green Show, directly
to Canada!
