Lucky us. Next week K'Naan has not one, but two gigs in Toronto. The night after opening for the Roots at the Kool Haus, he's booked as the headliner at Revival in Little Italy. This is coming off his recently announced nomination for an MTVu award. (go vote for K'Naan here)

blogTO wants to send you and a friend to the second show. We stumbled upon a wicked prize pack which includes this:

* A pair of tickets to the show at Revival on October 13th
* A K'Naan DVD, CD, poster and t-shirt

Here's what you need to do to win: Just comment below what you think is the best venue in the city (aside from Revival and the Kool Haus) to see live music. We here at blogTO will randomly select a winner from everyone who posts a comment. The contest winner will be contacted by email.

For live music, I would have to say the Mod Club. Great style and sound. I saw The Streets there and it was fantastic. I really enjoy the bar being on one side with your dance floor in the middle and then slightly raised level with a lounge area.

I saw Thievery Corporation at The Carlu (http://www.thecarlu.com).

It was fantastic, the music was not only great, but the venue blew my mind.

Cool rooms, good staff, and the finishes (leather floor in one room, and hardwood throughout the theatre/stage area)... they even let us drink wine out of real glasses during the show!

Molson Ampitheatre is always great as long as it isn't raining. A close second for me would be The Opera House.

The Docks is also worth mention if only because that's where The Roots are actually playing (not kool haus). http://thedocks.c7.ca/the_roots/

Mostly see shows at Lee's Palace. The sound at Mod Club is fantastic though...

I tend to be loyal to the Horseshoe Tavern, where you're right up close to the band and up to your neck in history.

Massey Hall is still my favourite venue in the city. Great sound, fairly comfy seats, and every inch of it oozes history. Music is brought to a whole new level when in that building.

For the newer venues, The Mod Club is great. Great sound and atmosphere in a hip yet unpretentious setting.

For worst venues ... the Kool Haus, all the way. I leave that place with sore feet and a back ache every time from the horrible concrete floors. And it's even worse when the barricades are up for all ages shows. I still go there on occasion, if someone I really like is playing, but try to avoid it like the plague whenever possible!

i like opera house for a rock show, or massey hall for a more subdued act. saw belle and sebastian at massey, and it was cd quality sound. or close to it. docks is the WORST.

i'm a sucker for historical venues. the horseshoe is great, but for me, nothing beats the palais royal. i saw sigur ros there years ago. that show ranks as one of the top 5 shows of my life, and i think the venue has a lot to do with that.
