moviesTO #49: Bringing out the Departed

Martin Scorsese returns to cinema this week with the highly-anticipated new film The Departed... but is this Goodfellas Martin Scorsese, or Bringing Out the Dead Martin Scorsese? (Or, for that matter, The Age of Innocence Martin Scorsese or Gangs of New York Martin Scorsese?)
Today's podcast includes:
- Review of The Departed
- News on Cinesiege and Toronto After Dark
- A clarification on the TIFF "audience choice" award
- A scathing rant about the Paramount
- and what I'm thankful for this year.

I'll admit that Nicholson was remarkably out of place, and that this definitely wasn't a Scorsese masterpiece like Raging Bull, but in all, it's hard to go wrong with The Departed on a Saturday afternoon.
cool review on The Departed. I am looking forward to watch this movie. It would be great if you can share your thoughts on how The Departed compares to the original movie, The Infernal Affairs. When I first saw Infernal Affairs, it was a very captivating film. It was one of the better standard film produced in Hong Kong in the recent years. It wasn't perfect, but the story and the characters were captivating, and the concept was an almost rehash of Hard Boiled but carried forward to another level. Just last week I saw Infernal Affairs 2, which explored the characters' earlier years in depth. It was just as captivating, and in some ways better than Infernal Affairs 1. If you have not watched it yet, I highly recommend Infernal Affairs 1 and 2. There's also part 3, but in my opinion, not as good as 1 and 2, but still enjoyable.
Keep up the good work. :)
