Everybody has been talking about Borat. Why no love for Borat?
Penelope was excellent, and definitely made my top ten films of the festival; maybe even top ten of the year. (And how does anyone mix up Volver with Penelope?) I'm still partial to Pan's Labyrinth.
Now that you mention it, this year's festival was quite good, despite people complaining that there was no standout. Sure, it might have been hard to find ONE film that stands out, but in general, many many films were great.
Speaking of which, every single Danish film I saw at the festival was wonderful: Prague, After the Wedding, Princess. Never before have I been able to say that EVERY film from a particular country has been impressive.
(And I think the only thing I didn't agree with you on for the whole festival was ATBL Mandy Lane. Interesting.)
