The summer of 2006 goes out with a bang with the mega-trash mega-hit Snakes on a Plane, one of the rare instances in which a pure B movie escapes to the A level and then goes ahead and reminds us of why these things usually go straigh to DVD. Has anyone else had enough of the ****** ******* snakes on the ****** ******* plane?

Today's podcast includes:

  • G-rated review of R-rated Snakes on a Plane
  • News on Young Cuts, Pirates, and Superman 2

Saw it Thursday night at the Paramount. Amazing audience, throwing plastic snakes and cheering everytime Samuel L Jackson said a single word. What a great experience.

The writing really really really pained my ears, one of the worst scripts I've heard in my life. That being said, <a href="http://vasta.typepad.com/main/2006/08/snakes_on_a_pla.html";>I had so much fun watching it</a>, I'd go see it again.

Oh, and congrats on getting the new Mac. I'm loving mine.

Matt i love the podcast.I love how you tell us ,Toronto moviegoers, about the film happenings in the city BUT please for the love of god..will you stop spoiling the movies in your review!
I think that with the Descent review and now with snakes on a plane you outdid yourself.
How fun can it be watching a movie like SOAP on a packed theater when you see coming a scene where the guy gets his Penis severed?
I still think you got a real knack for this and besides my hopefully constructive criticism i think youre doing a great job.

Ah, the age-old spoiler question. As a general rule my policy is not to give away PLOT spoilers (at least, not without a hefty warning in both the text of the podcast post and in the podcast itself), but I don't particularly mind giving away a few EVENT spoilers if they support my argument.

In the case of Snakes on a Plane, however, where the plot is so clearly irrelevant and the events are really the only reason to go see the movie, I should probably have kept my mouth shut more.

Thanks for commenting, Edu!

I still have yet to see Snakes on a Plane. I love the marketing for that movie though; brilliance.

Thanks for mentioning Youngcuts- I'll be there handing out cards in front of the cinema if anyone cares. Should be a blast!

See you there!
