moviesTO #39: Two movies; no waiting

The first big studio pic to try to take a bit of the wind out of Jack Sparrow's sails is M. Night Shyamalan's latest Shyamalepic, The Lady in the Water.... which is getting reviewed so badly that this critic can't even muster up the courage to see it. A safe retreat to the "indie" scene is a better idea, with Kevin Smith bringing back that founding duo of mid-'90s indie slackerdom, Dante and Randall, in Clerks 2, while Richard Linklater probes the depths of Dick in A Scanner Darkly.
Today's podcast includes:
- Review of Clerks 2
- Review of Richard Linklater's Waking Life-y Philip K. Dick adaptation, A Scanner Darkly
- Jaws at Dundas Square, Hiroshi Teshigahara at the Cinematheque, and looking at the far future with James Bond, Iron Man, and the Man of Steel

woody harrelson was phenomenal, and the rotoscopy is mind-blowing. sadly, it's not the most accessible film, and i can't see it getting the largest audiences.
