The Globe has the lowdown on the revitalization of Glen Stewart Ravine in the Beaches. The 11 hectare area has been freshly outfitted with an elevated boardwalk and pedestrian bridges to improve access to (and enjoyment of) the green space. Having done some great work on Crothers' Woods in previous years, this most recent project is further reason to give kudos to the City of Toronto's Urban Forestry department.

Caesars is the latest casino to express interest in a Toronto location. No big surprise here. Even Doug Ford has this one pegged. "You say we've struck gold and all of a sudden you'll have every gold miner in North America come," he told the Sun. Sounds about right.

The Grid reports that Kromer Radio is shutting its doors after 55 years in business. The electronics store, located on Bathurst south of College since 1974, was something of a Toronto institution, but ownership and management claim that they're just tired out. Hmmm, who wants to bet that the offer from RioCan, who owns almost the entire block, was too good to pass up?

One imagines that an editor at the Star thinks he or she is rather clever for pitching this story about falling debris in the wake of an incident with an Air Canada flight. Not so much.

Steve Munro has more on the strained relationship between the TTC and Metrolinx when it comes to the construction of the Eglinton Crosstown and other LRT projects in Toronto. Of particular note is his observation that no one seems to be talking about opening the Eglinton Line in stages, something that would ease gridlock and speed up its usability. "At a minimum, this could be done in two parts (west and east of Yonge), and possibly even three (Jane to Eglinton West, then to Yonge, then to Kennedy)," he writes. "Lines are built and opened in stages all over the world, and nothing (except possibly obstinacy) prevents this from happening here."

Road rage reaches new heights! A school bus driver wielded a hatchet against a fellow driver after an incident near Islington and Dixon roads. There were no kids on the bus, but perhaps these things shouldn't come as standard issue on such vehicles?

Here's something to put on your radar. On June 5th, we'll get a chance to see the transit of Venus, which won't happen again for until 2117. Let's hope that the weather cooperates and that hordes of people don't go blind searching for the tiny black dot. Head to Varsity stadium for a group viewing op. There's even free "transit glasses" up for grabs!
