The Big Carrot is an institution on the Danforth. They have a great selection of organic vegetables, cereal, breads and other healthy food as well as a quick-service area serving salads, soup and hot meals.

nice store but pricey compared to some of the others and last time I went there my car was towed from off the Danforth -no free parking like other stores. Also food that is supposed to be served hot frequently is luke warm because yes they microwave their food to zap it. Even the soup is often just warm instead of piping hot!

I love Carrot Common (the Big Carrot) and their vegetarian cafe! Unfortunatly, it's located just beside the rows of meat. Due to the space, they can't change this so be sure to get the popular seats facing away from this animal disaster!

I went to big carrot and bought some great groceries, I find their staff to be snobby.

Iam a vegetarian and find the hot food barely luke warm at the Big Carrot, not tasty and overly expensive - dont like the meat so near the cafe. What does all that have to do with a health store called the Big Carrot? Very limited parking and got towed from outside the store too. There is free and more parking at Ambrosia just off Yonge St, Organic Planet in Richmond Hill and Health Depot in Scarborough. Prices are are better in these stores too.
When I spend 100 at the big Carrot, the same items cost between 70 and 82 at these other stores.

if your food not warm, then ask them to put it in the oven

Its all about Ambrosia its just outside of the city off of younge street. Located at 55 Doncaster rd. Best prices I have ever seen, its deffinatly worth the trip. Compared to big carrot, noahs, etc this place has most everything you need for low prices, i was amazed

Extremely over priced, the people who work there are snooty, (especially those that work in the supplements department!), no free parking, or you can't find any when you go and are forced to park on the street or park far away...I can't think of anything good to say about this store...and that's a shame.

Paula's soooooo right. Everyone there has an attitude; a bad one that is. There is a real "elitist" mentality and a "holier than thou" aura. This is supposed to be a place filled with evolved vegetarians, yogis and meditators, yet even most of the customers are snobs. (I am a vegan, btw) No one ever smiles; the cashiers are miserable and the prices are outrageous!! I much prefer Ambrosia or the Natural Food Depot at Lawrence and Warden; but my most favourite store of all is Beaches Natural Foods at Elmer and Queen St East. It's really small, but packed and they have the best prices in the city!

The Big Carrot had a Mike and Mike's Organics truck idling in front of the store for almost half an hour. I live beside the Big Carrot and this was extremely annoying - particularly as there is a sign posted that says "No idling. $450.00 Fine" I'm betting they didn't charge the driver as they let him continue to idle for at least 20 more minutes after I spoke with them. This is so hypocritical I don't even know where to begin. Obviously they want to make the world a better place ... but not for their neighbours.

I find the carrot overpriced and overrated.
The staff (with exception to the checkout) seem to have an attitude..
It is worth the trip to Essence of Life in Kensington Market or Fiesta Farms at Christie and Dupont to buy organic produce and products
